wax classic is a brand new skylax sub – label. for this 3rd release, we give you the opportunity to grab 5 fantastic trax done by housemaster : jason grove.born in detroit, he started his career in the late 80s, dj-ing in underground parties when the techno house movement was just at the beginning. he was invited few times on detroit local stations such as wdrq & wjlb to play. some said he was at that time very close to the >wizard<, helping producing their first tracks with anthony srock as final cut. he had many opportunities during the 90s to release some of his work on various prestigious labels, however, as the guy is really hardcore & straight edge, he prefered to continue producing only with analog gears (dont ever speak to him about a computer or he?ll get mad !) & record his work on cassette only, selling it to indie stores & giving it to friends for some special events (birthday, graduation ect ... !). after the incredible release we had on wax classic 1 (another skylax sub – label), you can grab finally the 2 nd part of those legendary tapes.

following a pair of fine releases on fine art and under the shade, james johnston delivers another superb ep for no matter what. >after everything< is a masterfully created slice of rolling deep house flirting with disco styles, punctuated with snippets of disco guitar licks and dubbed out vocal samples, all held together with a sumptuous chord sequence. the comparatively upbeat tempo rhythm and deep subs of >lost the house keys< which follows comes as something of a surprise, and the chopped up piano which causes the track to erupt into a flurry of jacking rhythms only add to the proto-chi house mood. the rest of the tracks continue with the same kind of upbeat pace, with >get back to the feeling< interlacing a variety of female vocal samples within its 909 rhythms, and >xtc< injecting some serotonin into the ep with its razor sharp synth stabs and snares, whose rhythms recall the deadly precision of marc kinchens early productions...

when no one is watching ramona, is usually listening to future times records and beautiful swimmers all days. maxmillion dunbar is not only half of those aquanauts, but also running the label and releasing music as max(million) d(unbar). what a guy! hanging out in the vague territory between slow-motion house with a hip hop feeling or dubby and dubious fun music, his melodious approach is extremely hard to categorize but all the more enjoyable. >polo< already saw the light of day on >max trax for world peace<, but ramonas favorite dj ata and live at robert johnson manager oliver hafenbauer were so much in love with the bleepy bonbon that they offered it a place by their fireside. now cautiously modified, fine-tuned and extended for its label home, its a rainforest serenade for beatnik boys and girls, with all the ingredients you want from tha d. the only kid able to thrown down the gauntlet in front of maxi is frankfurts melody man phillip lauer (arto mwambe, brontosaurus, etcetera etcetera). turning >polo< into one of his trademark sluggish bass line barrage tracks with falsetto synths and sharp snares. get your vogue brogue out.

the see it through ep is the debut release from kris le vay. the eponymous a side is the most dance floor orientated track, with kicking drums and a driving, melodic bass line guaranteed to get the crowd moving. its also an awesome headphone experience, with involved, complex percussive elements that keep the ear interested and euphoric breakdowns that truly pull at the heartstrings. the b1, entitled melt, is a cheeky little number that bounces around with plenty of polyrhythm. the counterpoint between the deep bass and twinkling top melody leads to the unconventional, yet mesmerising breakdown. the release is rounded off by one hot ride, which is one hot track! starting with ominous dark synths that spin themselves into a stomping hip-hop tempo beat, this anthemic rich blend of sound winds itself up from a menacing introduction on an exhilarating journey through a complex and intricate soundscape. limited to 300 colour vinyl.

space ranger is back on patrol. moving house and a peaktime affair plus a couple of remixes coming from moscow and barcelona. this is a hell of a 12 inch! another set of remixes (the last one) off of their stunning debut album >what about the magnetic fields?<. this time its moscovians lipelis & simple symmetry from the super hip pompeya who team up for an el debarge-style cosmic funk-pop affair, while barcelona resident barbena takes things the deep-house way. you also get the original and house monster >music< in the package. it doesnt get much better than this.

limited remastered reissue of the hugely in demand 12 inch release of pedestrians super phat slice of balearic grooviness >commuter fantasy<. massive on the cosmic scene after being championed by djs daniel baldelli and beppe loda, this record is extremely hard to get hold of in the original and commands super-high prices in internet auctions. despite being created by successful uk pop production duo swain and jolley, this only ever came out as a limited 12 inch in canada never getting a us or uk release but its italo-esque slow-building dreamily insistent sound has secured it a dedicated following amongst discerning disco and balearic lovers since.

the first liaison of those two guys might be entitled as a generation clash. young gun kitt bang became a famous munich resident dj in the past 10 years for instance at the famous zombocombo freaktheatre. the old dog enne spins and produces records since almost 30 years. he created and remixed tacks for labels like: compost, permanent vacation, nang, tirk, just to name a few. the miraculous - funky - weird - dance music on this 12inch is the result of plenty hours studio sessions by using minimoog, microkorg & similar analog devices, furthermore live guitar of guest musician simon i.t.c. with this 3 track 12 inch they tried to go a step beyond of the actual nu disco glut. to make it round we deliver a remix by migumatix (courtesy of freaktown records) a munich based shootingstar too.
